A few of my recent finds from local antique/junk/vintage stores.
favorite things, part one
I was excited to found this little plaque at a vintage clothing store. It immediately made me think of my favorite filmmaker Agnes Varda. If you haven't seen Varda's documentary ,The Gleaners and I (Les Glaneurs et la glaneuse), you should do so as soon as possible. The film follows Varda as she meets various gleaners while traveling across the french countryside. She interviews people that are collecting potatoes after the fields have been harvested. She comes across a heart shaped potato which then becomes her emblem. I recently found a heart shaped stone (see picture below) in my backyard which reminded me of Varda's heart shaped potato collection. Also check out the sequel, The Gleaners and I: Two Years Later.

inspiration
I was singing along to Bob Dylan while driving past the bay this afternoon. The sun was shining and the sea lions were laying on the shore soaking up the rays. I stopped off at one of my favorite antique/junk stores and bought a poetry book published in 1967. The illustrations are vibrant and very 60's. The pages will make great envelopes.

getting started
I made this set of envelopes last week using xeroxes of architectural plans of Portland, OR. I'm constantly on the hunt for new and interesting things to make into envelopes. I'm a big fan of the hunt.
