my favorite month

The sun setting on my 30th birthday!
I guess I'm supposed to be an adult now.

Here's what I've been up to this month...
I attended WeMake's new event series called sketchXchange featuring the lovely, Mary Kate McDevitt.  It was so much fun chatting and sketching.  Check out a video and photos from the night.  By the way, there's a great shot of my key tattoo.
Riding the bus over the coastal range to Portland.  I was too tired to make the drive.  Thank goodness for the Wave.
My cousin invited me to take care of her dogs while she was out of town.  So, I spent five relaxing days at her house in Vegas.
My sis gave me these flats for my bday!
Birdy growled and barked at me every morning.  She wanted me to hurry up and feed her breakfast.  So funny!
Sunny enjoying his new indestructible toy.  Apparently, this is the same toy given to polar bears at zoos.  He loved it!
Loving my new ring I scored in Vegas.  I'm still deciding on a name for him.  Suggestions?

Hands down my favorite part of my birthday was seeing radiohead in Seattle!  I loved standing next to my sister singing along at the top of my lungs.  Our pal Ben shot this video.  What a great night!

Thanks friends and family for making my birthday so radical!
Love you, guys!

back in vegas

My apologies for the lack of blogging the past few weeks.  I've been busy traveling and celebrating my birthday.  I'm currently house/dog-sitting in Vegas.  My plan is to relax, write letters and blog a little bit.

desert sabbatical: glitz and glamour

Last Saturday, I returned to overcast skies and hills of evergreens.  The extreme change in climate was quite a shock.  I'm still adjusting.  I thought I'd share one last batch of photos from Vegas.  Enjoy!

desert sabbatical: charleston antique mall

Charleston Antique Mall is 16,000 square feet of pure heaven.  I spent about three hours wandering through the booths.  I love the hunt.  I laughed out loud several times due to the strange mix of run-of-the-mill antiques and bizarre/gaudy items.  It was great fun!

Tip: Check out the directions to the entrance of the shop.  It's a bit tricky.

desert sabbatical: textures of the vegas strip

1. Anthropologie in the Forum Shops of Caesar's Palace.
2. I believe this light fixture is outside Tommy Bahama's at Caesar's Palace.
3. MAC in the Forum Shops of Caesar's Palace.
4. Sculpture in Caesar's Palace.
5. I wish I could remember where I shot this dress.
6. The conservatory at the Bellagio.
7. The beautiful Chihuly piece hanging in the lobby of the Bellagio.

desert sabbatical: red rock canyon

Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is located 15 miles west of Las Vegas.  My sister and I checked out the Visitors Center and drove the 13 mile scenic drive on Thursday.  It was absolutely gorgeous!  I shot something like 90 pictures.  I'll post more tomorrow.
I dropped Bethany off at the airport this afternoon.  She's headed back to Portland.  We had so much fun this week.  I miss her already.
