my favorite month

The sun setting on my 30th birthday!
I guess I'm supposed to be an adult now.

Here's what I've been up to this month...
I attended WeMake's new event series called sketchXchange featuring the lovely, Mary Kate McDevitt.  It was so much fun chatting and sketching.  Check out a video and photos from the night.  By the way, there's a great shot of my key tattoo.
Riding the bus over the coastal range to Portland.  I was too tired to make the drive.  Thank goodness for the Wave.
My cousin invited me to take care of her dogs while she was out of town.  So, I spent five relaxing days at her house in Vegas.
My sis gave me these flats for my bday!
Birdy growled and barked at me every morning.  She wanted me to hurry up and feed her breakfast.  So funny!
Sunny enjoying his new indestructible toy.  Apparently, this is the same toy given to polar bears at zoos.  He loved it!
Loving my new ring I scored in Vegas.  I'm still deciding on a name for him.  Suggestions?

Hands down my favorite part of my birthday was seeing radiohead in Seattle!  I loved standing next to my sister singing along at the top of my lungs.  Our pal Ben shot this video.  What a great night!

Thanks friends and family for making my birthday so radical!
Love you, guys!

weekend in seattle

A few weeks ago, my sister and I took a road trip to Seattle for a wedding.  (More about the wedding later.)  Before heading home we checked out the Ballard Farmers Market.  We couldn't resist buying some tasty pastries and dried Braeburn apple slices.  They made great road trip snacks!

vegas bound

Hi friends!

I'm headed to Vegas tomorrow for the West Coast Conference college basketball tournament with my Mom and sister.  Really looking forward to seeing my cousin and watching hoops for a week!

My etsy shop will remain open while I'm away.  Any items purchased from today until March 6th will be shipped March 7th.

Have a lovely week!

Go Zags!

traveling journal #4860

I'm currently contributing to a traveling journal via the 1001 Journals project.  The website was started by the artist, Someguy, after his 1000 Journals project took off.  My friend, Sky, told me about the 1000 Journals documentary last year.  She knew it would be right up my alley.

After watching the documentary, I joined the 1001 Journals website.  Months past and I forgot all about it.  Two weeks ago I received an email from Marta.  She let me know that I was next in line to receive Journal #4860!  The journal arrived last week.  Over the weekend, I read what others had written and scanned all of the completed pages.  Then I dug out my watercolors, india ink, glue stick and scraps of paper.  I spent the weekend watching crappy suspense thrillers and creating.  It felt really good to get my hands dirty.

I'll share more pages soon...

PS: Soon I'll be starting my own traveling journal.  Leave a comment if you're interested in contributing. Thanks!

desert sabbatical in sin city

My cousin, Jennifer, presented me with an irresistible opportunity to stay at her house in Vegas while she traveled through Europe.  I was happy to leave behind dreary gray skies of the Oregon coast.  I've spent the past week swimming, shopping, sightseeing and relaxing.  My sister, Bethany, flew down for a few days to celebrate her birthday.  We've had a blast!

My new flats I bought at Ross.
The aquarium at the Silverton casino and lodge.

The Bass Pro Shops in the Silverton casino was enormous and full of taxidermy animals of all kinds.

Bethany added a new elongated penny to her collection.

I dig this raccoon bench!

Definitely the coolest sporting goods store I've ever been to.

Happy Birthday, Bethany!

PS: Stay tuned for pictures from our visit to Red Rock Canyon.

vegas trip: part two

I'm missing the warmth of the desert this afternoon.  It's gray and damp here at the coast.  I'm craving sunshine.

As we took off from Vegas, I snapped these photos of the dry landscape.  I love the different tones and textures.

vegas trip: part one

While visiting Vegas, my Mom and I went for a little road trip to Hoover Dam.  We soaked up the sunshine and took loads of pictures.  Here are a few of my faves...
