lil birthday books

I took a couple of my 2" notebooks and made them into birthday cards.

For: Drew

 For: Chris
I had a lot of fun working on these!

I'm thinking about selling something similar in my shop. What do you think?

true love

I was so honored when my friends, Kelli and Jeremiah, asked me to make their wedding invitations.  Jeremiah and I have been friends for about fifteen years.  He's incredibly genuine and one of my favorite people.  I remember the day he introduced me to his girlfriend, Kelli.  I liked her instantly.  Over the past couple years, it's been beautiful to witness how much they love and respect each other.  Needless to say, I jumped at the opportunity to contribute to their big day.

Kelli and Jeremiah wanted the invitations to be clean and simple.  Some friends of mine let me to use their studio to screen print the invitations and RSVP cards.  I sewed piano roll paper heart cutouts and sheet music dots onto the invites.  I also stitched the flap of the envelopes to add a lil something special.  I love how they came together.  And more importantly, they loved them!

Also, I made hand bound 2" notebooks for the wedding guests.  The covers matched the invitations.  The pages were made from sheet music, maps, ledger paper and dictionary pages.

Congratulations, Kelli and Jeremiah!

Drop me a line if you're interested in custom invitations and/or party favors.
I'm happy to give you a quote.

weekend in seattle

A few weeks ago, my sister and I took a road trip to Seattle for a wedding.  (More about the wedding later.)  Before heading home we checked out the Ballard Farmers Market.  We couldn't resist buying some tasty pastries and dried Braeburn apple slices.  They made great road trip snacks!

handmade ornaments

My pal, Dryden, hosted a handmade ornament swap on her blog last month.  I'm finally getting around to sharing photos of the ornaments I contributed.  I really enjoyed making these lil guys.  I'd like to experiment more with three dimensional mini paper projects.

Hope the new year is treating you well!

a fall morning in portland

I had a little impromptu photo shoot with my friend Jeremiah's cat last week.  His name is Hank.  He was very corporative and friendly.  I look forward to working with him in the future.  ;)

If you'd like to book a pet photo shoot, drop me a line.  Seriously, I'd love to take photos of your furry pals.

couch surfing

I drove up to Seattle a few weeks ago with my friends; Kris, Drew and Paul.  Kris was playing a show at Columbia City Theater.  She brought down the house.  Check out her music, here.

Drew and Kris are currently on tour with their bandmates, Drew Grow and the Pastors Wives.  They are touring with Wild Flag for another week or so.  Check out dates, here.

visited my hometown

A few weeks ago, I visited my friend Adrian in Salem.  We hang out at Clockworks Cafe and collaged for a couple hours.  I came equipped with a bag full of bits of paper, found photos, japanese masking tape, and pens.  We played with the materials and caught up.  There's nothing like making art with an old friend.

He stamped his forehead as I snapped this picture.  What a joker.

Before I headed home, we took a stroll at Riverfront Park.

Hopefully, another year won't pass before we hang out again.

blogs with style

I adore the vintage nautical banner and chic design of Darling Savage's blog!

Another blog design I dig belongs to the talented Mary Kate McDevitt.  I love the hand-drawn accents.

What blog designs inspire you?

farewell josephine mabel

My dear old friend Joie passed away in her sleep Monday morning.  She was a happy and loving little beagle.  I have very fond memories of her: playing hide and seek, walking on the beach and cozying up on the couch.  I miss her dearly.

friends on the road

My good friends, Drew Grow & the Pastors' Wives, are hitting the road tomorrow to begin their fall tour.  They are taking along the lovely and talented, Kelli Schaefer.  I know I'm slightly biased, but these artists put on an amazing show.  Every time they play in Portland I trek over from the coast.

Watch this video for a taste of their live performance.

You can catch them tomorrow night at The Warehouse in Tacoma.  Check out the full list of tour dates on their facebook page.
