desert sabbatical in sin city

My cousin, Jennifer, presented me with an irresistible opportunity to stay at her house in Vegas while she traveled through Europe.  I was happy to leave behind dreary gray skies of the Oregon coast.  I've spent the past week swimming, shopping, sightseeing and relaxing.  My sister, Bethany, flew down for a few days to celebrate her birthday.  We've had a blast!

My new flats I bought at Ross.
The aquarium at the Silverton casino and lodge.

The Bass Pro Shops in the Silverton casino was enormous and full of taxidermy animals of all kinds.

Bethany added a new elongated penny to her collection.

I dig this raccoon bench!

Definitely the coolest sporting goods store I've ever been to.

Happy Birthday, Bethany!

PS: Stay tuned for pictures from our visit to Red Rock Canyon.

In my past life, I had a job that sent me to Vegas for work numerous times. 14 times in 11 months to be exact... it was a bit much. But, my favorite "strip" activity became week day evenings at the Wynn. Go to the Parasol Up Down bar and sit outside at the Lake of Dreams. Around dusk they start a light show that is free and happens about every 30 minutes. It's pretty amazing and something I did by myself quite often!! Enjoy!

Thanks for the tip! I'll check it out if I make it over to the Strip again. My sister and I wandered around in the Venetian, Bellagio and Caesar's Palace last night. She flys back to Portland tonight. I don't know if I'll be visiting the Strip by myself.
